The tension between two forms, as shown in my series about the tactile sense, is depicted as the approaching contact between two planes of colour. Two contrasting colours, red and black, are separated by a thick white line. In all there are three players that build up tension: the white line keeps the distance between the red and the black plane. Red and black can’t come any nearer, as much as they would want it. The planes of colour are not flat, but painted vividly with lots of texture: this painting is not a snapshot, but a depiction of a continuous attempt of approach.
